Fresh off helping compile the No. 2 recruiting class in the country, Ohio State assistant Kerry Coombs has been named Rivals Recruiter of the Year.
Coombs, who has been at Ohio State since 2012, coaches cornerbacks and coordinates special teams. He had a key role in the recruitment of 5-star Shaun Wade and 4-stars Isaiah Pryor, Marcus Williamson, Amir Riep and Kendall Sheffield, among others.
The Buckeyes’ recruiting class overall is one of the best in school history. According to 247 Sports’ composite rankings, the class includes five 5-star recruits and 14 4-star recruits and comfortably ranks atop the Big Ten. The class is particularly rich in cornerbacks, with Wade, Riep, Williamson, Sheffield and Jeffrey Okudah all ranking among the 30 at the position.
In December, Coombs was rumored to be following former Buckeye defensive coordinator Luke Fickell to Cincinnati but decided to instead stay in Columbus.
