After a disappointing loss, Ohio State basketball will have a chance to regroup against an also-ran.
The previously unbeaten Buckeyes picked up their first loss of the season, 63-61, at No. 6 Virginia on Wednesday. However, Ohio State (6-1) is coming off its two best performances of the season as Fairleigh Dickinson comes to town. The Knights (2-4) haven’t looked great this season. Furthermore, Ohio State should provide them their biggest test to date.

Ohio State basketball vs. Fairleigh Dickinson keys to the game
Fairleigh Dickinson is not particularly good at basketball. The Knights enter the game ranked No. 294 in the KenPom rankings. For Ohio State, rated 18th by KenPom, that caliber of opponent shouldn’t be a problem. However, there’s still the matter of actually going out and executing. The Buckeyes have some issues to work on (turnovers and free throws chief among them). Coasting through a game would be wasteful and do little to fix those problems.
Lower-caliber opponents increase their odds of winning simply by sticking around. The Buckeyes have gotten out to great starts in each of their last two games. Doing so again could bury Fairleigh Dickinson from the start and allow the team to play worry-free basketball.
The junior forward is listed as a game-time decision because of a high-ankle sprain which has already cost him four games. If he’s healthy, he gives OSU more depth and better options. If he’s not, the Buckeyes will probably survive without him. However, this represents an ideal opportunity to work him back into the rotation and get him some game experience. Seeing him out on the court would be good news for the Buckeyes.
