J.T. Barrett became the Big Ten’s all-time touchdowns leader in Ohio State’s win over Army on Saturday, and coach Urban Meyer made sure to honor him in the locker room afterward.
“We do this on very special occasions,” Meyer told his team. “It is so freaking cool to have this guy here and be part of our team. How about this? He’s the No. 1 touchdown-maker in the history of the Big Ten conference.”

Meyer was all-in on his support of Barrett, just as he’s been in every media appearance since Ohio State’s 31-16 loss to Oklahoma. The message here was unmistakable. Meyer wants everyone to know he has Barrett’s back.
“The heart of a lion. It’s a heart [so] big. And toughness; he’s one of the toughest players I’ve ever been around. That’s pretty good characteristics to have with a guy touching the ball on every snap.”
Barrett then took the game ball and thanked his teammates. After a poor performance against Oklahoma, Barrett was 25-for-33 passing for 270 yards, 2 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing score against Army.
