The battle to be the Big Ten’s — and the nation’s — top defensive end in 2018 has already began on social media.
Earlier in the week, former Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst Jr. re-tweeted a photo of Rashan Gary and Chase Winovich, calling them the “best two D-Ends in the country this upcoming season!”

Hurst, a projected first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, had an outstanding 2017 season with 13.5 tackles for loss and 5 sacks during the regular season. But Hurst missed out on the honor of 2017 Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year.
Instead, Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa won that honor. Bosa also saw Hurst’s tweet. The Buckeyes defensive end responded to Hurst, just tweeting “swear.”

It seems like Bosa was asking Hurst if he was sure about his proclamation. Bosa, Gary and Winovich all have six more months before they try to prove who’s the best lineman. Regardless, Big Ten quarterbacks will have to be on high alert in 2018.
