When it comes to ranking the cornerbacks that will be available in the upcoming 2018 NFL Draft, there’s no doubt that Ohio State’s Denzel Ward is near the top of that list.
However, NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah thinks that Ward should in fact hold the top spot on that list. The analyst thinks that Ward is not only the best Ohio State player available in the draft, but also the best cornerback available.
Jeremiah made his thoughts on Ward clear in a video released by Ohio State football on Twitter on early Tuesday morning. Watch the video below:

Here’s what Jeremiah said about Ward in the video:
“Ohio State keeps churning out these secondary players each and every year, and Denzel Ward, you could make a strong case he could be the best of the bunch. Ultra-explosive, ultra-twitched up. He can play inside. He can play outside. You watch him against the run, you can see his competitiveness, and his toughness. I love that about him. And down the field, when the ball goes down the field, he’s not the tallest corner, but he can play above the rim and get up and win a lot of those 50/50 balls. He’s got outstanding ball skills. I think he’s the premiere cornerback prospect in this year’s draft.”
Ward is projected to be a first-round pick, according to his draft profile on NFL.com. At the NFL Combine, Ward impressed with his speed, as he finished the 40-yard dash in 4.32 seconds. In addition, Ward did 16 reps on the bench press, jump 39.0 inches high at the vertical jump and finished with a broad jump of 136.0 inches.
Ward is coming off his best season at Ohio State. He played in a career-high 11 games for the Buckeyes in 2017, where he made 2 interceptions to go along with 15 passes defended and 17 pass breakups. Ward also made 37 tackles (30 solo), 2 of which were tackles for loss.
The 2018 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday and will go through Saturday.
