Ohio State 2017 quarterback commitment Tate Martell, a two-time national champion at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, has agreed to do a weekly journal of his senior season with the Gaels prior to his college enrollment in January.
Don’t Let Up
Last week was a huge win for my team.
It was tough playing against St. John’s Bosco. They are a disciplined and talented team, which will always make for a good game, and traveling to their place made it even more challenging. They came out firing fast on offense and got up 14-0 on us while we tried to figure them out. When we figured them out it was tough for them to stop us, and that’s gonna be the case for most teams, I think. We have a lot of weapons on our offense and we don’t really get rattled. There wasn’t any time that we were worried about losing the game; we just knew we needed to get things going and we did. It was tough losing Biaggio Ali (Walsh) again but we managed to keep things rolling while he was down. When we get Tyjon (Lindsey) and Biaggio, and I think they should be 100 percent back against St Thomas Aquinas on Sept. 30, we are going to be very hard to stop offensively.
This week we are playing against Kahuku, out of Hawaii. They are ranked No. 18 in the country and I believe they are on an 18-game winning streak, so it’s another big challenge against another good team. I think we should dominate the game but we need to start off better and we will be better off in the end, we can’t just expect to turn it on in the second half whenever we want. We know what we’re capable of but there’s no time for any let up. The target on our backs is getting bigger and everyone is giving us their best shot. To be the best team in the country we’ve got to be the best team in the country every single week.
I’m really excited to watch Ohio State play against Oklahoma this weekend. It’s going to be their first real test this season, and I know they’ll be ready to play. I love how Ohio State is spreading it out and throwing the ball quick, and how J.T. (Barrett) is managing the games. He does that really well, and I’m excited to see how he does against Oklahoma because they’re physically tough and the environment will be a real challenge. I know that we’ll be prepared, but it’s going to be a great game to watch.
When it comes to recruiting we are really pushing for my safety at Bishop Gorman, Bubba Bolden, to end up with us at Ohio State.
He’s a baller when he’s on the field and I think he’s one of the best safeties I’ve ever played with or against. I think we are in good position, especially since we kind of entered late in the game for him but I feel like we should be in his top three for sure and if we can get him to visit Columbus with us I think that can get even better. He’s a good fit for the defense and he’s a great teammate. It would be pretty crazy to have 20 percent or so of our class from one high school.
Thanks for reading again everyone. I’ll talk with you next week. Go Bucks! – TM
