Ohio State 2018 linebacker commit Teradja Mitchell, a 5-star prospect at Bishop Sullivan Catholic in Virginia Beach, Va., has agreed to do a weekly journal of his senior season with the Crusaders. The nation’s second-ranked inside linebacker will join Land of 10 every Wednesday at 3 p.m. ET.
It feels good to finally be back in the win column.
Last Saturday, we traveled almost 10 hours north to play Springfield Central, the No. 2 overall team in Massachusetts. We won the game 55-13. I feel like we finally answered the call and showed some resiliency coming off of two losses in a row. We also demonstrated that, despite two losses, we can still be considered a powerhouse football team.
The offense was firing on all cylinders last weekend, and we finally put the ball in the end zone. The defense swarmed to the ball all game, we gave -15 rushing yards, so I guess ‘gave up’ isn’t the right term. It’s our most dominant defensive performance so far this season and one of the best in my career. Individually, my coaches said I finished the game with 12 tackles and 1 pass broken up, but that should have been a pick six. Unfortunately I dropped it. I don’t like missing out on a major accomplishment like that because I have never returned a interception for a touchdown. That is one of my personal goals this year and if I get the shot again I’ll make it happen.
This week we play Bishop McNamara out of Washington, D.C. This team upset us last year. We were actually up by 28 at the half and they came out with a vengeance, scoring 4 unanswered touchdowns on us. It was a very frustrating loss because I was unable to play in the second half due to a MCL sprain I suffered earlier in the first half. This year, my team and I are fired up about getting revenge. We plan on ending this game early. This is our first home game at our school this season, there will be a lot of people in attendance and we don’t plan to disappoint them.
Ohio State played in a very anticipated matchup against Oklahoma last week, and I had predicted for us to come out on top by a touchdown. I, like a lot of people, was mistaken.
Oklahoma definitely came to play. We just weren’t clicking offensively, and as we struggled to move the ball down the field, it seemed like we struggled in our pass defense too. Even though these problems are major detriments, I am very confident in Coach [Urban] Meyer and the rest of the coaching staff. These problems will be fixed very soon. I still believe this is a team that can win a national championship and I am not afraid to voice it.
These past few days I have heard nothing but Ohio State slander about how we are ‘overrated’ and ‘[J.T.] Barrett is garbage.’ As I mentioned in my post two weeks ago, I think it is very funny how much people hate on Ohio State. Although we do seem to be struggling a bit right now, through all the hate and criticism, the Buckeyes will always be around, and it’s nothing you can do about it. This program isn’t about one or two losses, it’s much bigger than that.
I am looking forward to being in Columbus this weekend on an unofficial visit for the Army game. I can’t wait to get to my future home, because there really is no place like it. If you are a fan that will be in attendance at the game, I’d be more than happy to take pictures, so give me a shout!
Thanks again for reading everyone. #GoBucks
