Ohio State football announced its 2017 team captains Monday, naming quarterback J.T. Barrett the program’s first three-time captain.
The Buckeyes have had nine two-time captains, including Archie Griffin, Glenn Cobb, James Laurinaitis and Braxton Miller, but had never before had a player serve as a captain for three seasons.
Here are Ohio State’s football captains for 2017:

- Junior H-back Parris Campbell
- Senior DE Jalyn Holmes
- Junior DE Sam Hubbard
- Graduate DE Tyquan Lewis
- Junior receiver Terry McLaurin
- Graduate C Billy Price
- Graduate DE Tracy Sprinkle
- Senior LB Chris Worley

Barrett is back for his fourth and final season on the field at Ohio State. He’s averaged 7.6 yards per attempt and has completed 63 percent of his passes in his three seasons playing quarterback for the Buckeyes.
Sprinkle, who suffered a season-ending injury in Ohio State’s first game of the 2016 season, was named a captain for the first time in his Buckeyes’ career. Assistant coach Larry Johnson called Sprinkle’s mom to deliver the good news:
