No. 2 Ohio State should expect a hostile atmosphere when it faces eighth-ranked Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium Saturday.
But, despite facing a battle-tested Badgers team on the road, the Buckeyes enter the contest as 10-point favorites. And Fox Sports college football reporters Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel think that spread may be too generous.
Mandel is predicting Ohio State to handily defeat Wisconsin, 27-10. Feldman has the Buckeyes winning, 20-6.
Their reason for a decisive victory from the top-ranked Big Ten team vary. From Mandel:
“The atmosphere at Camp Randall should be electric, and the Badgers’ defense can definitely give J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes trouble. But the Buckeyes’ defense has been every bit as dominant. Wisconsin, minus its usual powerful rushing attack, will struggle to score.”
Here is Feldman’s reasoning:
“I know Justin Wilcox’s D has been very stout and the Badgers have won the last six matchups of Top 10 teams at Camp Randall Stadium. But OSU’s O-line has been terrific (only 9 TFLs allowed, fewest in the nation), and I expect QB J.T. Barrett to be much sharper in the passing game after an off-day against Indiana.”
Ohio State is averaging 53.8 points per game and limiting its opponents to just 10.8. And despite Barret’s pedestrian performance in last week’s win over Indiana, Feldman and Mandel clearly believe that formula will be too much for Wisconsin.
