It seemed like a longshot at the start of the season, but San Diego Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa was named NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors on Saturday night in Houston.
Bosa, who missed the entirety of training camp while he and the team sorted out a contract dispute, finished the season with 10.5 sacks and 41 tackles in just 12 games.
Ezekiel Elliott, Bosa’s teammate at Ohio State, missed out on the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (Cowboys QB Dak Prescott won), but Zeke was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Year ahead of Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell and Cardinals RB David Johnson.
And the two apparently gave a nod to Ohio State with their respective outfit choices.
