Though Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is only a year older than Curtis Samuel and two years older than Mike Weber, he calls the two Ohio State running backs his “sons,” according to an article by Austin Ward on ESPN.com.
Asked about Weber, who has a chance to break out during the College Football Playoff the way Elliott did two years ago, he said this:
“Him and Curtis, I call them my sons,” Elliott said. “I took care of them in college when they came in, they were little freshmen. I’m very proud of them and what they’ve been achieving.”
Weber, a redshirt freshman, rushed for 1,077 yards and nine touchdowns this season, well ahead of Elliot’s totals from his freshman year. Samuel, a junior, rushed for 704 yards and added 822 yards receiving on the year.
After three years at Ohio State, Elliott was drafted No. 4 overall by the Cowboys last spring and now leads the NFL in rushing.
