One former Ohio State star is impressed with a Buckeyes freshman.
Cris Carter liked what he saw from redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins in Ohio State’s 54-21 rout of UNLV on Saturday. Haskins, the Buckeyes’ backup quarterback, took advantage of his playing time in the blowout. He went 15 for 23 for 228 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Carter, who went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the NFL after his time in Columbus, said that Haskins “has the chance to be the best Buckeye QB ever.”
This kid has the chance to be the best Buckeye QB ever. The next couple years gonna be fun. https://t.co/ch0i8F7khB

There have been a lot of questions about Ohio State’s quarterback situation since the Week 2 loss to Oklahoma. Fans, recruits and others have called for Haskins to get a chance over senior and three-time captain J.T. Barrett.
While Haskins got plenty of time against UNLV, Barrett — who threw 5 touchdown passes on 17 attempts Saturday — is still the starting quarterback moving forward.
