Holtmann reached out to the West coast for this 2018 addition. Washington is a senior at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, Calif. He grades out as a 3-star recruit in the 247Sports composite ratings, which have him as the 55th-best point guard, 32nd-best California prospect and No. 289 recruit overall in the Class of 2018.
Washington just took his official visit to Ohio State over the weekend. Here’s what he had to say about the Buckeyes in an August interview with Scout:
They’ve been recruiting me for a long time. Coach Holtmann was at Butler and they had a great season. His success as a head coach is really intriguing. It’s a great organization and school, great facilities and great town. It’s a nationally known place. DeAngelo Russell just came out of there. We’re just starting to build the relationship even more.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect was also considering Michigan, UCLA, Purdue, Nebraska and Oregon.
