Ohio State is staying hot on the recruiting trail.
Just about 23 hours after landing 4-star defensive end Andrew Chatfield, the Buckeyes have picked up commitment No. 12 on Friday night. Virginia Beach 4-star inside linebacker prospect Teradja Mitchell has committed to the Buckeyes.

A 6-foot-2, 232-pound linebacker out of Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, Mitchell is the second-ranked inside linebacker in America behind USC commitment Palaie Gaoteote. He chose the Buckeyes over Florida State, though Clemson, Alabama and almost 30 other offers came his way.
Landing Mitchell was not easy, nor was it even close to expected prior to his November, 2016 visit to Columbus. That trip, combined with an early April visit to see the Buckeyes again, changed everything. For months, the speculation was that he, like a number of Virginia prep stars before him, would head to Tallahassee and join the Florida State Seminoles.
That turned out to not be the case. That April trip, a two-day visit with his family that was spent building relationships with Urban Meyer and Billy Davis, helped solidify the bond that had already been forged thanks to Zach Smith, who recruits the Virginia Beach area for the Buckeyes. It was that time on campus that really separated Ohio State from the rest of the pack.
But it wasn’t over just yet. Mitchell had one more key visit to make to Florida State, which he took the second weekend of May and as that trip ended, the rumor mill started cranking again in the Seminoles direction. For his part, though, Mitchell insisted that he had not made up his mind and was still torn between the two powerhouse programs.
“There’s no leader right now,” he said. “I’m still very high on both teams. It’s very hard (to separate them). They are very similar and they both have what I want in a college.”
That split-decision didn’t last long. Tonight, he’s a Buckeye commit and becomes the second true linebacker in the Ohio State class, joining Toledo, Ohio 4-star prospect Dallas Gant.
Land of 10 will have more on the commitment of linebacker Teradja Mitchell, the 21st-ranked prospect in the 2018 recruiting class, soon.
