The 247 Sports Composite rates Samuel as the No. 14 cornerback in 2018, the No. 27 prospect in the state of Florida, and the No. 108 player in the nation. Florida State is currently a heavy favorite according to 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball predictions, but Samuel’s announcement proves the Buckeyes are still very much in the running.
Samuel’s father played for Central Florida, but it’s clear Samuel plans on going to a bigger school. The older Samuel was a fourth-round pick at the 2003 NFL Draft, playing for the New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons from 2003-13. Samuel won two Super Bowls with the Patriots.
According to MaxPreps, Samuel Jr. made 2 interceptions last season for St. Thomas Aquinas.
