Ohio State got its first goal from Dakota Joshua in the second period and then a second goal later in the period by Kevin Miller. Ohio State kept its 2-0 lead over the defending champions into the third period.
The Buckeyes and Pioneers would each score in the third period and with 6:00 left, Denver pulled its goalie. Ohio State added an empty net goal to cushion its lead to the eventual 5-1 final score.
With the win the Buckeyes advance to the Frozen Four where they will take on No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth. The national semifinal will take place on April 5 and be televised on ESPN2.
Minnesota-Duluth, a No. 3 seed, is the lowest seed in the Frozen Four as Ohio State and Notre Dame are No. 1 seeds and Michigan is a No. 2.
