Northwestern’s Austin Carr is one of the Big Ten’s best receivers and most talented students, but apparently he’s not much of a baseball fan.
In a teaser for Big Ten Network’s “Sports Lite with Mike Hall,” Hall asked Carr to identify pictures of notable Northwestern alumni. The receiver easily recognized “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert but stumbled over New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi.

Carr’s teammate, Justin Jackson, who did rather well on his turn, found it hilarious that Carr couldn’t put his finger on Girardi’s name. Carr eventually found the correct answer but only after Hall offered a hint.
Girardi graduated from Northwestern in 1986 after starring for the school’s baseball team. He was drafted by the Cubs in the fifth round of the MLB draft and played 15 seasons in the big leagues. This month, he finished his 10th season as an MLB manager, the last nine of those coming with the Yankees.
He has 897 career wins and led the Pinstripers to the 2009 World Series championship.
The full Alumni Game segment featuring Carr and Jackson will air on “Sports Lite with Mike Hall,” which airs 11 p.m. ET Wednesday on Big Ten Network.
