Northwestern’s Austin Carr has burst onto the college football scene in 2016.
And people have taken notice.
On Monday morning, it was announced that Carr is a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award given to the nation’s most outstanding receiver regardless of position.
This season, the senior wide receiver has 75 catches —47 more than anyone on his team — for 1,102 yards and 12 touchdowns, more than the rest of the team’s receivers combined.
Earlier this month, Pro Football Focus named Carr as the best wide receiver in the nation. He’s gone over 100 receiving yards in a game six times this year and has multiple touchdowns in two contests, including three in a win against Iowa and two in last weekend’s win over Purdue.
All of this comes just one season after he caught just 16 balls for 302 yards and two touchdowns, and as a sophomore, he only had seven catches for 100 yards.
