Northwestern will try to pull off a monumental upset on Saturday. And now the Wildcats will have to do it without one of their starting defensive backs.
Trae Williams, a redshirt freshman, was listed out for the game against the Buckeyes on the Wildcats injury report, according to College Football Talk. Williams has played in four games so far this season for Northwestern, and the 5-foot-11 cornerback has been credited with two passes defended.
This could be good news for quarterback J.T. Barrett and the Ohio State passing game. Barrett threw for 245 yards, a touchdown and completed 65.1 percent of his passes in last week’s loss to Penn State. But the last time the Buckeyes were at home, he had just nine completions for 93 yards against Indiana.
Even without Williams, the Wildcats have had a string of defensive backs correctly predicting their interceptions. We’ll see if that continues this week.
