On a day that Northwestern officially signed 19 incoming freshman, the Wildcats also added an older newcomer.
Jalen Brown, a receiver from Oregon with two years of college eligibility remaining, announced Wednesday that he’d be joining Northwestern as a graduate transfer. He will be eligible right away in 2017.

Brown arrived at Oregon in 2014 as a 4-star recruit and the No. 15 receiver in the country. He redshirted his freshman year, then caught 26 passes for 407 yards and four touchdowns over two seasons with the Ducks.
Because Brown enrolled early before his freshman year, he will be able to graduate from Oregon in June after three-and-a-half years on campus.
Northwestern’s wide receiving corps will be somewhat depleted next year after the graduation of seniors Austin Carr and Andrew Scanlan, and Brown could step in right away as one of quarterback Clayton Thorson’s most dangerous targets.
