Northwestern basketball made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history last season. Why not shoot for another milestone in the 2017-18 campaign?
One national analyst thinks Chris Collins’ Wildcats will take another big step this season. Clark Kellogg of CBS Sports picked Northwestern to make the Final Four this season.

Kellogg picked the Wildcats, along with Michigan State, Arizona and Cincinnati to be the last four teams standing in the upcoming season as CBS Sports’ analysts picked their Final Fours and national champions on Friday. Kellogg, a former Ohio State player, stopped short of picking Northwestern to win it all (he picked Michigan State), but he’s clearly a big believer in the Cats — and for good reason.
Northwestern returns most of its talent from a team that went 24-12 last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Northwestern returns its top five scorers from last season, including senior guard Bryant McIntosh (14.8 points per game, 5.2 assists per game).
The Wildcats debuted at No. 19 in the AP poll for this season. They open their season Friday night against Loyola (Md.).
