Northwestern made a couple of important additions to its 2017 schedule Wednesday morning.
The team announced it will open its 2017 season at home against Nevada and will also host Bowling Green for a non-conference tilt at Ryan Field in 2017. The Wolf Pack will travel to Evanston, Ill., on Sept. 2 and will host the Eagles two weeks later on Sept. 16.

Nevada and Bowling Green round out Northwestern’s 2017 non-conference schedule, which also includes a road game against Duke on Sept. 9.
Northwestern is 1-1 all time against the Wolf Pack after the teams split a home-and-home series during the 2006-07 seasons. The Wildcats are actually 0-2 all time against Bowling Green, with the most recent defeat coming in the 2003 Motor City Bowl.
Both Nevada and Bowling Green are well-respected programs from the Mountain West and MAC conferences, respectively. Nevada went 7-6 last season and capped the 2015 campaign with a victory in the Arizona Bowl. Bowling Green went an impressive 10-4 and won the MAC championship game, but lost to Georgia Southern in the Go Daddy Bowl.
