Illinois is the home of a champion, and its two Big Ten teams are basking in it.
Both Illinois and Northwestern bands paid tribute to the world champion Chicago Cubs during their respective halftime shows. Another reminder that, yes, the Cubs World Series title is indeed real.
Both bands formed the Cubs logo on the field, and the Northwestern band played “Go Cubs Go,” much to the delight of the faithful in Evanston.

In Champaign, where Illinois is hosting Michigan State, the band had a similar tribute. The Illini student section also did its best to fly the Cubs’ famous W, but a few more attendees would have helped.
