Northwestern has its fourth commit in the Class of 2018.
Dunlap (Ill.) High athlete Charlie Mangieri, a 3-star prospect per 247Sports, announced his pledge Tuesday night, choosing the in-state Wildcats from a field that included Indiana, Ole Miss and Northern Illinois.

Mangieri visited Iowa last the weekend, but evidently that trip wasn’t enough to sway him from Evanston. While most players who excel at multiple positions are listed as athletes by recruiting services, 247Sports lists him as an athlete, tight end and inside linebacker.
His highlight tape features him at tight end, linebacker and H-back.
The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Mangieri has the measurements to play tight end, and has time to put on the beef to play defensive end, should Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald want that to happen.
Mangieri isn’t ranked on the 247Sports Composite, which aggregates rankings from all the major sites, but 247Sports ranks him as the No. 61 athlete in the 2018 class and the No. 12 player in Illinois. He joins pro-style QB Jason Whittaker, OG Charles Schmidt and OT Payne He-Bert, all 3-star prospects, in Northwestern’s early 2018 class.
