A.J. Hampton flips from Toledo to Northwestern: Wildcats land 3-star CB
Northwestern football received some pleasant recruiting news ahead of National Signing Day on Feb. 7.
On Friday morning, 3-star cornerback A.J. Hampton tweeted his decision to de-commit from Toledo and pledge to the Wildcats.
A Tampa, Fla. native, Hampton initially committed to Toledo last July but did not sign with the Rockets during the early signing period in December. Feeling it still had a chance, Northwestern offered Hampton a scholarship on Jan. 21. The Wildcats then welcomed him for an official visit that weekend.
A week later, Hampton flipped his commitment to the Wildcats.
Hampton, a 5-foot-11, 167-pound prospect out of Paul R. Wharton High School, is Northwestern’s 17th commit for 2018, according to 247Sports.
