The recruiting machine churns all week. Join us Tuesday through Friday nights when we recap Nebraska recruiting news, offering analysis and context.
Johnson & Johnson: Updates on Taariq and Greg
Two top recruits who share a last name also shared a trip to Lincoln over the weekend. And both came away impressed.
“Everyone tells you about rumors and stuff, but you know, once you actually get to see it for yourself, it’s amazing,” he told 247sports. “The support system Nebraska has is something I’ve never seen before.”
The 6-foot-2, 213-pound Johnson is currently committed to California and had his trip to Lincoln was his first visit to any school since committing to the Golden Bears back in April.
He has 12 offers from schools including Baylor, Michigan, Notre Dame, Washington, Tennessee and Colorado.
Greg Johnson, a 4-star athlete from Hawkins (Los Angeles) High who is prep teammates with another one of Nebraska’s top targets, said his visit to Nebraska “gave him something to think about.”
Johnson, who plays on the same team as 5-star WR Joseph Lewis, has been committed to Arizona since March. This visit was his first outside of Arizona since committing to Arizona.
“Nebraska had 90,000 fans, they’ve got 300-plus consecutive sellouts, that’s all just amazing,” he told 247sports. “I just haven’t seen nothing like that. I just loved it. Everything was cool about this trip.”
Johnson has 27 other offers from schools including Alabama, Florida, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington.
It’s extremely difficult to flip commits, but it sounds like Nebraska did a lot of legwork on Saturday.
2019 running back offer
One of Texas’ top young running backs received an offer from Nebraska over the weekend.
Noah Cain, who does not have a star rating on 247sports yet but will likely be a high 4-star or 5-star, announced on Twitter on Monday that he received an offer from Nebraska.

He currently has 13 offers from schools including Oklahoma, LSU, Texas A&M, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State and Miami.
Here are his freshman-year highlights, which are extremely impressive.
He’s a powerful back who can shed arm tackles and is dangerous in the open field.

Darnay Holmes is a 5-star WR/CB from Calabasas (Calif.) High. He has not visited a school since he unofficially visited Nebraska in September.
Holmes is the No. 2 corner in the 2017 class and No. 3 recruit out of California. He’s the No. 11 recruit in the country. He will also official visit Ohio State on Nov. 5, when Nebraska plays the Buckeyes.
One of Nebraska’s commits, Robert Porcher, just visited Michigan.
Porter, a 3-star defensive end from Orlando, told 247sports he enjoyed his visit to Michigan but is still committed to Nebraska.
“It was good, it was a different experience, but again everybody really likes their own school — Nebraska fans love Nebraska and the Michigan fans they love Michigan,” he told 247sports. “It was good. It was a little different because my dad played for Detroit, so all these fans were asking if I was coming there. I liked it though. It was cool.”
Porcher said he is planning on taking more official visits.
