Nebraska has landed a graduate transfer who should help around the basket next season.
Winthrop big man Duby Okeke has committed to the Cornhuskers, HuskerOnline’s Robin Washut reported Sunday. He is eligible to play immediately.
Okeke averaged 3.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game last season. He is Winthrop’s all-time leading shot blocker with 165 rejections. The 6-foot-8, 230-pound center played 10 minutes in this year’s NCAA tournament, grabbing 2 boards and picking up 3 fouls in Winthrop’s 76-64 loss to Butler.
Considering all the players who have decided to transfer from Nebraska this offseason, it must be a relief for Tim Miles to land one coming his way.
Okeke posted his decision on Instagram.
