LINCOLN, Neb. — To add to Nebraska’s laundry list of injuries, senior QB Tommy Armstrong was in a walking boot Wednesday and did not practice. Coach Mike Riley said Armstrong reaggravated the ankle during the Illinois game on Saturday.
Nebraska does not play this week, and Riley said he isn’t concerned about Armstrong missing the Indiana game on Oct. 15. The senior quarterback is expected to practice at least some on Thursday and Riley said he will definitely practice on Sunday.
Armstrong joins a slew of offensive players who are not practicing this week, including sophomore RB Devine Ozigbo, senior WR Alonzo Moore, senior TE Cethan Carter, sophomore offensive lineman Tanner Farmer and junior offensive lineman David Knevel.
Fortunately for Nebraska, this is a bye week, and practice is focusing a lot of the scout team, which scrimmaged during practice Wednesday. The scrimmage gives coaches a chance to evaluate some of the younger players.
Other notes from practice:
- Riley and the coaching staff will be out recruiting Saturday. The coaches will reconvene in Lincoln on Saturday night.
- Riley didn’t say what he’ll do after the recruiting trip, but defensive coordinator Mark Banker said he plans on going to a Keith Urban concert.
