When Nebraska hits the field next Saturday against Rutgers, the Cornhuskers will do so in front of a celebrity audience.
Actress and Omaha native Gabrielle Union tweeted Saturday that she will be at Memorial Stadium next weekend for homecoming, alongside her husband, NBA star Dwyane Wade. Union shared her plans shortly after Nebraska’s 21-17 loss to Northern Illinois, telling the Huskers they have “a week to make adjustments.”

Union was born in Omaha before moving to California with her family as a young child. She has attended Nebraska football games in the past, and in a 2012 interview with ESPN’s Kelley Carter, Union said she had been “a Cornhuskers fan since birth.”
“In my family if you couldn’t talk Cornhusker football — that means knowing the black shirt defense, knowing the I-back formation — then you don’t get to have an opinion. When I first toured the Nebraska campus and I saw Turner Gill walk, I freaked out. That was like the biggest star-struck moment I’ve probably ever had in my life. But it’s because I grew up in a household that always talked specifically Cornhusker football and Big 8 sports, at the time.”
Union attended UCLA for college, while Wade went to Marquette.
