After the first week of play, Nebraska’s Briana Holman was named NCAA Division I volleyball Player of the Week by ESPNW.
Holman, a junior middle blocker, played in her first matches since 2014 and averaged 2.57 kills per set, 1.43 blocks per set and hit .571 over the weekend’s games.

The DeSoto, Texas, native registered 10 kills against No. 3 Florida and eight kills against No. 2 Texas, as Nebraska retained its No. 1 overall NCAA ranking.
Holman sat out the 2015 season, due to NCAA transfer rules, as she transferred from LSU to Nebraska.
She watched from the bench as the Huskers won the national title last year, and expressed her exhilaration in getting back on the court in an ESPNW article.
“Being out there was just an amazing feeling. That’s the only word I can use,” Holman said. “I didn’t get to play in the national championship, and this was a rematch. I was just so fired up.”
