Cook led the Huskers to two national championships in the last three seasons, further solidifying Nebraska as a powerhouse program. Cook will reportedly make $675,00 annually, an increase of $75,000 from last season. His contract will also be extended one year, covering the next five seasons.
Nebraska beat Florida, 3-1, in December’s national title match, capturing the fifth crown in program history.
“You saw a team play great team volleyball. I saw [former coach Terry Pettit] had an article called ‘old-school volleyball.’ It was serve, block, dig and try not to make errors on offense and get a few sideouts. And you saw our serve-blocking defense really frustrated Florida [on Saturday],” Cook said after the win. “That’s what this team has been built on all year. They’ve embraced it, and they’ve had unbelievable leadership from the senior class.”
