As expected, Nebraska tight end Cethan Carter was ruled out Thursday for the Cornhuskers’ game against No. 11 Wisconsin.

The news doesn’t come as a surprise, as Nebraska coach Mike Riley said on Monday that Carter would not play.
This is the third consecutive game Carter will miss. Sam Cotton likely will start in Carter’s place at tight end this week.
Carter was an important piece of Nebraska’s passing attack before sustaining an elbow injury in the team’s game against Illinois on Oct. 1. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound senior has 10 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown this season.
Cotton has just eight receptions for 87 yards this season. He’s recorded three catches in each of his last two games, though.
