Latest Nebraska football news

Most miserable

Which schools’ fan base is the most miserable in the country? According to USA Today’s Misery Index, it’s Nebraska. And based on a quick review of the responses, it seems like most agree.

Something to celebrate

After a rough weekend, here’s something to celebrate. Former Huskers running back Rex Burkhead scored his first touchdown with the New England Patriots victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, and it’s a play worth watching over and over.

What now?

Nebraska athletics director Shawn Eichorst met with the media Saturday, telling fans to “hang in there.” But where do the Huskers go now? After all, Eichorst has lost the support of Larry the Cable Guy and that says a lot. On Thursday, Nebraska fired Eichorst.

Unhappy Tommie Frazier

Former Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier had some thoughts on the Huskers, which he shared on Twitter on Saturday and then again on Facebook Live on Sunday. While critical, he’s clear on one thing: Don’t fire Mike Riley now.

No. 12

That’s where the Huskers are ranked in the latest Land of 10 Power Poll. Only Rutgers and Illinois are ranked lower.

National thoughts

Quite a few national media members have weighed in on Nebraska’s struggles after losing to Northern Illinois. That includes ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit, as well as SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum and Anthony “Booger” McFarland.

Big visit

Nebraska will have a couple of special visitors when Rutgers rolls to town. Those visitors are Gabrielle Union and husband Dwyane Wade of the Chicago Bulls. Union is originally from Omaha and a big Nebraska fan.
