Nebraska OC Danny Langsdorf’s not-so-subtle hint about a future visitor
The recruiting machine churns all week. Join us Sunday through Thursday nights when we recap Nebraska recruiting news, offering analysis and context.
In the world of recruiting, you have to read between the lines a lot.
On Thursday, Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf provided a riddle on Twitter with some news hidden in it.
— Danny Langsdorf (@CoachLangsdorf) March 9, 2017
Translation: 4-star quarterback Colson Yankoff, the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback in the 2018 class, will be visiting Lincoln sometime in March.
“Esto Perpetua” is the state motto of Idaho, where Yankoff lives. He’s also the only player in the 2018 class from that state who Nebraska has offered.
So the subtle-but-not-so-subtle hint was easily decodable.
Regardless, this is pretty big news for Nebraska.
Yankoff is a former Oregon commit and holds 21 offers, including from Baylor, Ole Miss, TCU, Tennessee and Texas Tech. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound quarterback threw for 3,129 yards and 27 touchdowns his junior year at Coeur d’Alene High School. He also ran for 968 yards and 26 touchdowns that season.
With redshirt junior Tanner Lee, redshirt freshman Patrick O’Brien and true freshman Tristan Gebbia as pro-style passers on the roster, Langsdorf has said he would like to have a dual threat QB join the ranks. Yankoff would fill that spot.
Yankoff has already unoffically visited Oregon, Stanford, Tennessee and Georgia.
Langsdorf wasn’t the only Nebraska coach being not-so-subtle on Twitter.
Offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh gave his own small shout-out to an unnamed recruit.

Coach Cavanaugh is, no doubt, talking about 3-star offensive lineman Will Farniok, the brother of current offensive lineman Matt Farniok.
This afternoon, a profile of 4-star wide receiver commit Tyjon Lindsey was published for our Next Generation series.
The story details why Lindsey picked Nebraska, the story behind de-committing from Ohio State, and how Lindsey ended up living with Muhammad Ali’s family.
An interesting recruitment to watch over the coming weeks will be TJ Pledger. The 4-star all-purpose back released his top eight schools on Wednesday evening, which included Nebraska.
.@uno_tj announces his Top 8 schools.
We need you at Nebraska.

Nebraska will be recruiting running backs hard this cycle. Pledger is probably atop that list. The IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) prospect is the No. 2 all-purpose back in the 2018 class and No. 6 player in Florida. He has 22 total offers and has already unoffically visited Arizona, Ohio State, Miami, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.
It’ll be interesting to see if Pledger is one of the IMG Academy recruits who visit for the spring game with 4-star corner Brenden Radley-Hiles, who has already said he’ll be in Lincoln for the April 15 game.
