When Nebraska agreed to pay Northern Illinois $820,000 to come to Memorial Stadium, the Cornhuskers planned for a record-strengthening victory over a solid but relatively non-threatening mid-major foe.
After the game, the Cornhuskers took some justifiable mocking for essentially paying $820,000 for a loss, in a game they were favored to win by double digits.
