Nebraska football is the No. 1 topic in Big Red Rising every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across Huskers sports. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Huskers football, recruiting, basketball and more.

A Saturday night struggle

Under the lights of Memorial Stadium, the Nebraska football team couldn’t manage a win against Wisconsin on Saturday. Instead, the Huskers fell 38-17 and we all learned a few things. Coach Mike Riley said he was “very disappointed” in the loss.

Most disappointing? The Huskers knew what to expect but were unable to finish and get the inside track on the Big Ten West.

Huskers honor ’97 national champs

Nebraska honored the 1997 national champions Saturday night, and there were plenty of special moments. One of them came when when former Huskers defensive end Grant Wistrom led the current team in the Husker Prayer. It’s a moment no one will soon forget.

Never forget

Wisconsin kicker Rafael Gaglianone was a close friend of the late Nebraska punter Sam Foltz. On Saturday, he continued to honor his friend in a T-shirt for No. 27.

Status quo

Nebraska didn’t budge in the latest Land of 10 Power Poll. The Huskers stayed planted at No. 12.

An AD update

TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte might not be interested in the Huskers’ open athletic director job, but it sounds like some SEC athletic directors may be.

Bowl or bust?

Is Nebraska’s bowl chance busted? Not so fast. There’s a chance the Huskers will still make their way to a Dallas bowl game come December.

Mark your calendars

If you’re a Nebraska baseball fan, you’re in luck. The Huskers have released their full 2018 schedule.

And then there were 11

David Alston, a defensive end/outside linebacker in the 2018 class, committed to Nebraska on Friday morning. He carries a 3-star rating per the 247Sports composite and is commitment No. 11 in the Huskers’ 2018 class.
