NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nebraska coach Mike Riley confirmed on Monday after practice that freshman wide receiver Lavan Alston is no longer with the program.
Alston, who redshirted after a knee injury in fall camp in 2015, never played in a game for Nebraska. He’s the second receiver to be recruited by wide receivers coach Keith Williams to leave Nebraska in the past few months. Freshman receiver Derrion Grim transferred in August.
Alston was a 3-star recruit from Ventura, Calif., and the No. 49 receiver in the 2015 class. He chose Nebraska over California, Washington State, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State and Penn State.
Alston did not travel to Nashville for the Music City Bowl on Friday.
