Nebraska will begin conference play with a slimmer depth chart.
Junior guard Anton Gill is out for the rest of season after rupturing his right patella tendon at a workout on Sunday. Gill, who sat out the 2015-16 season after transferring from Louisville, was averaging 3.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per game this season.
The 6-foot-3 guard appeared in all 12 of Nebraska’s games this season. He tied a season-best with 10 points against Southern last Tuesday.
Gill is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, and the team expects the recovery process to take 6-8 months.
The Huskers went 6-6 in non-conference play this season and open their Big Ten slate on Wednesday night at No. 16 Indiana.
