Nebraska’s Jesse Wilkening breaks aluminum bat during at-bat
In Major League Baseball, broken bats seem to happen nearly every game.
They aren’t a rarity.
In college, however, aluminum — as opposed to wooden — bats are used, so a bat being broken doesn’t happen too often. Well, it finally did during Nebraska’s home baseball game against Cal Poly on Saturday, when Jesse Wilkening broke his bat on a groundout to short.
Take a look:

Nebraska’s Twitter account made a joke about the Cornhuskers and how hot their batters were — affecting the bat and melting it. That may not have happened, but then again, how else could an aluminum bat be broken?
After all, the team defeated Cal Poly earlier in the day 22-3.
The Cornhuskers won the second game 13-2. Nebraska is 9-6 overall and will next play at 1:35 p.m. on March 13 against Northern Colorado at home.
