Minnesota became the latest team to honor the late Sam Foltz on Saturday.
Just before kickoff, the Golden Gophers specialists handed Nebraska players a custom Minnesota jersey with Foltz emblazoned across the back of it.

Foltz, who was Nebraska’s punter from 2013-15, died in a car accident in July. In response, many of the Cornhuskers’ opponents have paid their respects to Foltz’s family and the Nebraska football team with simple gestures like these.
Just last week, Ohio Sate paid tribute to Foltz’s life by presenting Nebraska with a helmet that featured 27 stickers. In addition, the visitors’ tunnel leading to the field at Ohio Stadium was branded with a “SF27” decal.
In addition to giving Nebraska a custom Foltz jersey signed by the entire team, Purdue also put No. 27 decals on its helmets when they played the Cornhuskers. Oregon paid tribute to Foltz’s life by putting flowers on the 27-yard line, which represents Foltz’s number, before its non-conference matchup against Nebraska in September.
