LINCOLN, Neb. — Some good and bad news on the injury front for the Nebraska football team on Monday.
Huskers coach Mike Riley said in his weekly press conference that senior WR Jordan Westerkamp and senior TE Cethan Carter are both likely out for the home game against Purdue on Saturday.
Westerkamp’s lower back injury is something that will take time to heal, Riley has said. He’s currently rehabbing by running in a pool.
Carter is close to being ready to play after hyperextending his elbow, Riley said.
Sophomore RB Devine Ozigbo played a few snaps against Indiana but didn’t run much because of the lack of preparation over the week, Riley said. That lack of prep came from Ozigbo being injured. For this Saturday, Riley expects Ozigbo will be “good to go.”
Both offensive tackles will be day to day this week, Riley said. Nick Gates played on a sprained ankle against Indiana and David Knevel was injured on the first snap of the game. Riley said offensive lineman Sam Hahn could potentially take one of their spots if they are not healthy for the game.
