LINCOLN, Neb. — Mike Riley is dropping news left and right.
After his Twitter revelation Wednesday night that redshirt junior Tanner Lee will be the starter for the 2017 season, Riley said on his radio show Thursday night that Nebraska should expect a 10th commitment within the next 24 hours.
Problem: Nebraska currently has seven verbal commitments. Which begs the question: Is Riley sitting on two silent commits?
“We have right now, we have nine commitments,” Riley said on his radio show. “And the number of guys that we can sign right now is 15. So we have over half of that now. We have a commitment on the edge, that I think is coming up in the next 24 hours that will make it 10.”
You can hear his entire radio show below. Riley begins talking about recruiting around the 40-minute mark. He touches on how many recruits he wants total at each position, the effect of the spring game and what he thinks this class could be.
But be on alert: In the next 24 hours there could be another commitment. And there could be some more on the horizon that aren’t public. Either that, or Riley just slipped up. But we kinda doubt that.
Potential commitments could from from 4-star DT Calvin Avery, 4-star ATH Mario Goodrich, 4-star WR Joshua Moore or even recently offered kicker Barret Pickering.
