Jordan Westerkamp’s professional football journey suffered a setback Tuesday. The former Nebraska wide receiver was waived by the Miami Dolphins.
Westerkamp was signed by Miami at the end of July but was let go just a few weeks into training camp. Westerkamp did not have a catch in the Dolphins’ preseason game against Atlanta last Thursday.
Miami announced Monday that it had signed two wide receivers — Trey Griffey (son of Ken Griffey Jr.) and Rashad Lawrence — as they let go of Westerkamp. There’s still plenty of time for the former Huskers star to land on a roster or practice squad before the start of the 2017 season.
Westerkamp had 167 catches, 2,474 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns for Nebraska in a productive four-year career.
