Nebraska won’t have a key piece of its offensive line for the first month of the season.
Jerald Foster strained his MCL at Wednesday’s practice, coach Mike Riley told the Omaha World-Herald’s Sam McKewon. The team hopes to have him back by its Big Ten opener on Sept. 24 against Northwestern.
Foster was considered the frontrunner for the starting left guard job.
The Lincoln, Neb., native was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2014. He appeared in all 13 of Nebraska’s games last season, primarily on special teams.
