After Saturday’s battle with Wisconsin, the Nebraska doubters are disappearing. Now it’s time to see what’s possible down the road.
The Huskers have a monumental task this weekend when they play at No. 6 Ohio State, but ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit didn’t seem afraid to look ahead if Nebraska wins on Saturday.
Keep winning, and Nebraska is in — in the Big Ten title game and then in the College Football Playoff.
“If Neb wins Saturday-They’re most definitely alive, for not only BIG Championship, but also a playoff spot-Win out & believe they’d be in,” Herbstreit wrote in a Tuesday morning tweet.

This continues Herbstreit’s compliments and recent optimism around the Huskers. Early Sunday morning, Herbstreit tweeted he was “more impressed with Nebraska tonight despite their loss,” as the Huskers pushed then-No. 11 Wisconsin to overtime before losing 23-17. He then argued that Nebraska shouldn’t drop in the polls.
In the end, Nebraska fell two spots to No. 9 in the AP Poll and four spots to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll. But what matters most is where the selection committee has Nebraska in Tuesday night’s College Football Playoff rankings.
