Defending champion Nebraska volleyball ranked No. 1
Nebraska ended the 2015 season No. 1. It’ll start the 2016 season there, too.
Nebraska received 60 of 64 first-place votes in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll to easily take the top spot. The Big Ten dominated the rest of the top 10, with Minnesota (No. 3), Wisconsin (No. 4) and Penn State (No. 9) all ranked inside the first 10.
The Big Ten has won the past three national championships, with Penn State winning in 2013 and 2014.

Nebraska’s claimed the top preseason ranking four previous times. It’s also now only one more No. 1 poll rank away from tying Penn State for the most in the sport (88 times).
