One of Nebraska’s top targets told Land of 10 on Monday that the Huskers are still in the running as he narrowed his list of schools to four.
Darnay Holmes, a five-star prospect and the No. 2 corner in the 2017 class according to 247Sports, spoke briefly with Land of 10 reporter Jeremy Birmingham in San Antonio as he practices for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl to be played on Saturday.
Holmes, who plays at Calabasas High in Southern California, said Nebraska is in his top 4 schools, along with Ohio State, UCLA and USC. No Michigan.
“They have a great brand building thing up there,” Holmes told Land of 10 about Nebraska. “They’re full of great fans great people and great coaches.”
Holmes also specifically mentioned Nebraska cornerbacks coach Donte Williams as a reason why he’s considering the Huskers. Williams previously recruited Holmes at Arizona.
Holmes has unofficially visited Nebraska three times and was visited by defensive coordinator Mark Banker in May. Current Nebraska commits Tristan Gebbia (4-star quarterback) and Keyshawn Johnson Jr. (3-star wide receiver) also go to Calabasas.
Holmes will announce his commitment during the fourth quarter of the the game Saturday.
