The news regarding Johnson’s decision is likely great news for Nebraska, who hosted Johnson for an official visit in October. Johnson is rated as the No. 1 athlete in the 2017 recruiting class. He’s also listed as the 13th-best recruit from California and 102nd-best player in the country, according to 247 Sports’ composite rankings.

Johnson’s announcement comes about nine months after he verbally committed to Arizona. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound athlete has received offers from USC, Alabama and Notre Dame among others. There is a 60 percent chance that Johnson, who is from Los Angeles, Calif., will sign with USC, according to the 247 Sports Crystal Ball.
