While Minnesota reportedly will decide the future of head football coach Tracy Claeys this week, rumors about Western Michigan coach P.J. Fleck potentially replacing Claeys are inaccurate, according to FootballScoop.
“There is nothing to this. Not happening,” FootballScoop published Tuesday in regards to Fleck potentially landing at Minnesota.
Minnesota was involved in a sexual assault investigation that resulted in 10 players being suspended before the Holiday Bowl. The rest of the team initially decided to boycott the bowl game, with Claeys’ support, before deciding to play. The Golden Gophers defeated Washington State, 17-12, to finish their season with a 9-4 record.
Western Michigan was one of two FBS programs to finish the regular season undefeated. The Broncos lost to Wisconsin, 24-16, in the Cotton Bowl.
