Minnesota may still be without its senior quarterback.
As of Tuesday, the Gophers listed QB Mitch Leidner as out for Saturday’s game vs. Rutgers. That means Conor Rhoda is in line to make the start for the second week in a row.
Leidner has been out with a concussion and missed the Maryland game. Rhoda made his first career start this past Saturday in the 31-10 win.
Rhoda was 7-for-15 for 82 yards and a touchdown in his first start. The Gophers relied on the ground game against the Terrapins as Rodney Smith and Shannon Brooks combined for 40 carries, 230 yards and 2 TDs (both from Smith). Minnesota had 48 rushes as a team and only 15 pass attempts.
On the season, Leidner is 86-for-149 for 1,006 yards, 5 TDs and 4 interceptions. But the Gophers may be without him for another week.
Rutgers visits Minnesota for a 12 p.m. ET game on ESPNU. Minnesota is 4-2 (1-2 Big Ten).
